KRON-TV did a story that explains the Nehemiah Program and why downpayment assistance will not be around much longer. The reporter highlights how it is illegal for a seller to give money directly to the buyer, hence why it is necessary for Nehemiah to step in. The reporter explains that Nehemiah gifts the money for a downpayment and then is reimbursed. The piece also says that DPA has an elevated foreclosure rate. There were no interviews in the piece, but the reporter references Kevin Koenig, identified only as Nehemiah’s National Director of Outreach, saying the statistics are garbage and discusses the devastating impact eliminating DPA will have.
